GKP EXCOMM Tiebreaker Results Announced

Dear GKP Members,

GKP EXCOMM TIEBREAKER 2010

I am pleased to announce the results of the GKP EXCOMM Tiebreaker 2010 which concluded 15 July 2010 (GMT+8). 

23 (20%) of eligible GKP Member Organisations voted in this tiebreaker election. Thank you to all candidates and voters for participating in the elections!

Based on the number of votes secured (see table below), CTIC Foundation is hereby elected to the GKP Executive Committee term of 2010/2011.

CTIC Foundation now joins newly elected members International Institute for Communication & Development (IICD), Commonwealth of Learning (COL), Canadian Foundation for the Americas (FOCAL), Federacion Nacional de Cafeteros de Colombia-Comite de Cafeteros de Caldas, and Bellanet on the GKP Executive Committee (see GKP EXCOMM 2010 Results), along with incumbents United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), OneWorld International and eCOM-LAC - Latin American and Caribbean Federation for Internet and Electronic Commerce.

 
With the conclusion of this GKP EXCOMM Tiebreaker 2010, elections for the GKP Executive Committee this year are complete.

CTIC Foundation's Statement of Intent

With the new strategies and reorganization which GKP has proposed, it is perfectly positioned, not only to bring and create a platform which will strengthen, unite and harness competences among its members but also bring together, Government Agencies, Technological Institutions, Business, Civil Society, Donors and Academic Institutions. It is in a unique position to be ale to provide networking and joint development of projects which will have a direct result in Society.

The CTIC Foundation has, as its strategic objective, to contribute to the development of the Information Society through the promotion, dissemination, advice, specialized training and research activities as well as the technology transfer, management and development of technological projects leading towards the implementation of ICT in the social, economic and institutional life of citizens. It totally believes in the necessity of harnessing the capacities of organizations and creating cooperation platforms to take advantage of synergies and complementarities to develop joint strategies and projects. It has worked internationally not only regionally and nationally in Spain ,but also in Europe,(France, Ireland, Germany, Uk, Greece, Belgium, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Lithuania South and Central America ( Argentina,Peru,Nicaragua, El Salvador, Dominican Republic and Honduras) and Africa (Angola) with governments, municipalities, civil society and other agents in the implementation and development of ICT focussed projects which have had a direct and positive result in society. It has been working intensely with Governments,(US, UK, Australia) Cooperation Agencies and Civil Society in the implementation and advancement of Open Government Data which will provide the means of accessing and using public information at all levels.

CTIC has recently signed an MoU with UNECA to develop cooperation projects together and with other African Partners. We would like to thank you for the confidence expressed in us for the nomination of CTIC and in this spirit we gladly accept. We pledge our support and contribution to GKP and its Members to find solutions to the challenges and to work together to consolidate the new strategies and projects which lie ahead.
