Participation in the GKP Community is open to organisations or individuals who share in the Vision and Mission of GKP, and facilitated through engagement as a GKP Member, Partner, Advisor or Friend of GKP.


GKP Members

GKP is a member-driven network of over 100 organisations from all sectors Public, Private and Civil Society committed to Sharing Knowledge and Building Partnerships in Knowledge for Development (K4D), and Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICT4D).

GKP members include grassroots practitioners, pragmatic business people and high-level policymakers. Working in concert through GKP, they increase their organisational prominence to influence policy at a global level as well as to secure more opportunities for spreading the benefits of up-scaled K4D and ICT4D initiatives. They also share knowledge on innovation and best practices. Combining strengths and forming partnerships to mobilise resources and implement programmes, GKP members and partners build strategic alliances for the future.

All GKP members enjoy equal rights and equal opportunities to voice, showcase, promote and share their own experience, ideas, opinion and approaches to K4D and ICT4D globally, while remaining independent, autonomous entities. They develop trust-based relationships in the GKP network, upheld by the principles of innovation, capacity building, accountability and transparency, participation, empowerment and ownership, gender and social equity, multi-stakeholder partnerships and advocacy for human rights.

GKP takes pride in being a diverse membership organisation founded upon shared values and mutual respect.

The GKP network spans over 50 countries, with members operating globally and in eight regions: Africa, Europe, East Asia, Latin America & the Caribbean, Middle East & North Africa, North America, Oceania and South Asia.

With representation from every sector and from every region, GKP is able to cultivate both South-South as well as North-South collaborations effectively at both regional and international levels.

GKP Partners, Advisors & Friends

Apart from GKP Membership, participation in the GKP Community is also open to organisations or individuals who share in the Vision and Mission of GKP, and faciliated through one of the following channels:


1. GKP Partner

GKP Partners are organisations that are unable to join as members due to structural/governance/legal issues; or that are not ready to join GKP as members until after a trial engagement. However, engagement as a GKP Partner is by-invitation from GKP only and the relationship with GKP is established via a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

2. GKP Advisor

GKP Advisors are distinguished individuals invited by the Network's Executive Committee to help strengthens GKP thought leadership, mobilisation, image and advocacy.


3. GKP Friend

GKP Friends are organisations and/or individuals who wish to be associated to GKP informally. We welcome GKP Friends who are committed to helping strengthen awareness about GKP, enhancing advocacy reach and joining our pool of potential partners.
